Family Member of EEA/EU Citizens (Parents or Children’s only)

If you wish to visit Spain for a short period of time (less than 90 days), you must obtain a Short Term visa.

Please note:

Only the spouse, parents or children of EEA/EU citizens, who are travelling with them or will be visiting them in Spain, are exempted from the payment of this visa fee.
The applicable Visa Fee in Ghanaian cedi is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice
The fee is non-refundable

BLS International Service charge

Applicants applying at the Spanish visa application centre shall be levied a service charge of 230 GHC inclusive of all local taxes payable in cash. Children under 6 are exempted from service charge.

"Checklist"

For all types of visa applications submitted by relatives of European Union citizens the following documents are required:

1. GENERAL DOCUMENTS (in all cases)

Schengen visa application form, properly filled by typing or handwritten with capital letters, with a 2 X 1 passport photograph.
Digital Passport with a minimum of six months validity and a photocopy of the biodata page.
Valid identity card of the applicant together with a photocopy of the same.
Copy of National Identity Card or Passport of the European Union relative certified by a Spanish notary public and in case of being resident in Spain a copy of the resident card. European Union citizens resident in Ghana must have a copy of their National Identity Cards or Passports certified at the Consular Section of this Embassy.
Statutory declaration by the relative of European Union declaring that the applicant is travelling with them or that is going to live with them in Spain.
Applicant’s birth certificate is mandatory.
Certificate of Registration issued by the City Council in Spain where the European Union citizen resides ONLY IF THE EUROPEAN UNION CITIZEN IS NOT A SPANISH CITIZEN,

The documents are valid for three (3) months, and both originals and photocopies must be presented. When you do not present the original document you must submit a certified copy.

The application form must be correctly filled, facilitating all the possible information requested in the form including postal address, email address and telephone number.

The application must be submitted personally the BLS International Services centre. ( subject to prior appointment)

Passport of the applicant with at least 3 blank pages, which should be valid for at least three months after the duration of intended stay. This document should have been issued in the last ten (10) years. Photocopy of the passport bio data page and all pages of the passport with visas only must be submitted.
Submission of all old passports is mandatory. Incase if applicant has lost old passport then he/she can submit copy of complaint lodged with Police or for any other reason of not submitting it he/she can provide a covering letter mentioning the reason for the same.

In case of minors (below 18 years), the application form must be signed by both the parents. Photocopies of passports of both the parents, attested by notary public, must be attached. Incase parents does not have passports then they need to provide a government ID proof having signatures.

In case the minor (below 18 years), is accompanied by either of the parents, a no objection affidavit must be submitted.

One recent photographs for Accra(35-45 mm) of the applicant with white background.

Applicants birth certificate

Covering letter from the applicant, explaining in detail the purpose of the visit. All cover letters must include details of any other accompanying persons as well. This includes family members, friends or business associates travelling for the same purpose

Invitation letter issued by “Policia Nacional de España”. (submit in original along with a photocopy )

Attested copy of the passport and the DNI or residence card of the person living in Spain.

In case of spouse, copy of the marriage certificate issued by the Consular authorities of the EU country of which the inviting person is a national. This document must not be more than three months old.---

In case of spouse of Spanish national, the applicant must present:

Inscription of the marriage before the Spanish Civil Register. At the time of submission, this document must not be more than three months old.
Copy of “libro de familia” of the applicant.

In case of children, copy of the birth certificate issued by the corresponding competent authorities.

Proof of sufficient economic means for the entire duration of stay.

Original Personal bank statements of the applicant for last 3 months for Embassy of Spain, Accra with the original stamp and signature of authorized signatory of the bank (Online Bank statements are not acceptable).This is a mandatory statement. Please Note forThe Embassy of Spain, Ghanaian Cedi (GHS): The minimum closing balance in the Personal Account Bank Statements should be equivalent or above Euros €589.68 per person for a minimum period of stay. For longer stays applicants need to show an additional of approximately Euros €65.52 per day per applicant.

Any other document that the applicant may consider appropriate to support his/her application.

To receive any notification issued by the Embassy of Spain/Consulate General of Spain.
To collect the passport on behalf of the applicant.
In case of minors, this form must be signed by both the parents

For Family visa applications applicants are requested to submit proof of family relations with the principal applicant as an additional document with the visa application, for example

For Spouse - Marriage certificate

For Children - Birth certificate

BLS International will accept a photocopy of the document after verifying with the original at the time of submission.

With regards to the documents submitted with the visa application such as the Marriage certificate and Birth certificate of family visa applications, documents only in English language or translated to Spanish will be acceptable for all files.

Kindly note that if the documents are in any regional language, they must be translated to English or Spanish by any language institute with official stamp and signature of the translation institute/agency.

Documents in regional languages such as Marriage certificate and Birth certificate will not be acceptable.

Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre..

Applications accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day at the Embassy of Spain. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant can be further requested additional documentation in support of the same. Please note as per the instructions received from Embassy of Spain minimum processing time is 15 working days (It may delay and can get to 45 days in case it is necessary to make a more detailed exam of the application).

All applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.

Processing time will start excluding the date of submission of application at BLS

Applicants submitting the applications towards the Embassy of Spain, Accra with short processing time will be required to fill up the Declaration form.
